Do you repair any make / type of equipment?

A. Sorry but no. Some companies, especially Philips have a policy covering some of their range where they refuse to provide any information or parts at a realistic price to independent repairers such as us. Because of this, we can not guarantee that we will be able to complete a repair. However, we can try for you and if successful, the cost will be a lot cheaper than sending the unit back to the manufacturer.

We also can not repair Dell products as info and parts are not available, even to them!

Additionally, we do not undertake repairs to any white goods. Fridge, Freezers, Microwaves etc.

I am looking for info on how to repair my TV myself.

A. This is not the right site for you. Please do not even think about it unless you are a qualified TV Engineer. There is usually a label on the back of your TV saying that "Only a qualified engineer should open this set." It is there for a very good reason. Very dangerous voltages can be present even with the set turned off!

Most repairs will cost you less than a new a tyre for your car, is your life worth so little?

I'm not certain whether to repair or replace my equipment, maybe I should just buy a new one.

A. This is the 2nd most common question we are asked.

Firstly, it does not benefit us to repair an item at excessive cost to you, you will never call back and we need to maintain our excellent reputation.

Secondly, we don't do anything without your approval. We will always discuss the fault and cost with you before you are presented a bill.

Thirdly, we will give you an honest opinion "as if it were our own equipment" taking into account age, condition and estimated cost of repair, as to whether to recommend repair or replacement.

If we can repair for less than half the cost of replacement and guarantee the unit, then we feel that we've provided a service for you that you will be happy with. For example; a 'Dead' set can be down to lots of different reasons but the HT (High Tension) Transformer is becoming quite a common fault on sets nowadays. This can incur a bill of around £100+. If the set is a throwaway High Street TV then is going to be written off. If, however, it is of a good make and replacement would cost you £300 - £400 then it is well worth repairing.

Can you set up my new equipment for me?

A. Yes. If you are having trouble with your new DVD/Set Top Box etc, then we can come to your home, set up your system and explain how your new equipment works. Our Price Guide gives the latest cost for this service. Rest assured, it will be cheaper and more friendly than contacting the supplier!

My TV/Video/Stereo, etc does not seem to be working properly. Is there anything I can do myself?

A. Yes. Please read the instructions for your piece of equipment. Check all the connections. Usually there is a troubleshooting page. If the fault turns out just to be a loose plug, then unfortunately, there will still be a charge.

(Return)

I have a real fault on my equipment, now what?

A. Easiest thing to do is to phone us and explain the problem. Please have the Make & Model of the unit you have a fault with. This will give us a chance to look it up on our database and hopefully, we will be able to give you an idea of the cost of repair. If not, we will have to look at the unit and phone you back with a diagnosis and price.

However, please note that a deposit is required if we inspect your equipment.

For further information, see our Price Guide

Do you charge for estimates?

A. No but unfortunately we do need a deposit. This varies with the item that is in need of repair. Our charges can be found on Price Guide which will also give you some idea of the total cost of repair.

The deposit is not a separate inspection fee. It is taken off your final bill if you decide to go ahead with the repair.

Written estimates that are required for insurance purposes are charged @ £45.00 which is usually refundable from your insurer.

How long will the repair take?

A. This depends on the fault. If we can, we like to turn around jobs under 24 hours. Common parts, not in stock, means a few days delay. Occasionally, parts have to be obtained which are 'out of stock' with our suppliers / manufacturers, in which case we will keep you informed of the likely repair date.

(Return)

Can you repair my equipment at home?

A. Not usually, unless it is a known, simple fault. This is because we are unable to carry all the spares and equipment that may be required to cover all makes & models of all types of equipment. If you are able to bring the item to us then please do so.

If you require the equipment to be collected than a delay in the repair time may well occur as we will have to arrange a specific collection/delivery that suits.

(Return)

If you can collect my unit, do I pay an extra call out fee?

A. Not if you are local to Maidstone. However, this is down to our availability, and yours. Your equipment is likely to be repaired quicker if you are able to bring it to us. We do cover surrounding areas and villages but an additional small fee would be added to your invoice.

(Return)

Do you guarantee the repair?

A. Yes. Usually a three months warranty is given but only on the specific repair that has been carried out. Occasionally, the term may be shorter or longer depending on the parts used. For example;  A replacement new TV tube comes with a one year warranty.

(Return)

Do you repair satellite / aerial equipment?

A. The Digiboxes yes but dishes and aerial systems we leave to the specialists.

We use Cooper Communications who have vast experience in this field. You can talk to us about your problem or you can contact them directly on 01634 241824

(Return)

Do you repair Camcorders / I-Pods etc?

A. No. This we leave to the specialists. Please see our list of engineers who deal with these products.

My Plasma / LCD screen is broken. Can you repair it?

A. This has now become our No.1 question. The answer is a little complicated.

Plasma: No. Screens are not available at sensible prices, therefore, the set will be uneconomical to repair.

LCD: Yes. Some screens can be affordable but it really depends on what screen the manufacturer has used. Very few companies use their own screens and they do not relate to the model number. Because of this, the set has to be stripped down to find out which screen has been used. Only then can availability and price be determined.
